Just about finished my Neon. Not really a build log cuz I was usually too frustrated or tired to take pictures of the process but heres the (mostly) finished product.

Still getting 15% tint all around in the next week cuz its hot as hell in FL with a black interior. And I'm getting a new HU in the mail. Pioneer DEH-P7700MP with the Ipod attachment. Then I'm DONE!!

**Special thanks to bumpin_buick for the box design and c_shaw for helping me build it**

The car:

Had to do everything in my dorm room and in the parking lot cuz I was at summer school. A HUGE pain in the ***

The box and sub: ~1.5ft^3 tuned to 35hz. Again thanks bumpin_buick and c_shaw for the help!

The amps: Hifonics ZX7500 wired @ 8ohms bridged for the 10" Type R and a Jenson 2 channel to push the Type S coaxials in the doors.

Just gotta clean up the wiring and I'll be good to go.

paint looks good.
My buddy tried that a couple times and everytime he had a shit ton of runs.
Yea the black was no problem. Blue was a little tougher had to spray a few more coats to get it even. All I did was use Krylon fusion, no primer, no clear. Just soap it up good and dry it off and you're good to go.

you should have sanded your dash parts prior to painting.. that paints not going to adhere as you think it will.

not a fan of the painted blue panels though..

your sub terminals seem too close for comfort. they look like they are making contact to each other.

The interior paint looks very good, good job, it's a pain to get those pieces lookin good having painted my interior twice it's a long job except I primed and cleared

As soon as anyone THINKS about touching those pieces it'll scratch em.... It looks like you painted whichever random piece you could figure out how to get off....

I'm not trying to be a dick, but as soon as you realize how crappy a painted interior is, you'll also realize how hard it is to get it to look good again... I'm talking all new pieces

x2... That was the first thing I noticed... It could get interesting if not corrected.

And it seems you need WAY more power to the Type R... what is it getting? ~250-400watts?
Its 1000W bridged @ 4 so I figure 500 on the low end possibly up to 700 with gained efficiency with running a lower impedance. Plus I got the amp for $50 so it'll do. Its perfect for what I use it for.

I painted the whole dash. It all came off. I completely gutted the car and then put it back together. Black for the main parts and blue for the trim.

I've done 2-3 cars and it adheres great. One car I painted I kept for 6 or 7 months after I painted it and never had any problems.

And terminals are close I didn't take into account the washers when I drilled the holes. But they're not touching so it's not a problem.

Why do people paint miscellaneous interior pieces? Looks terrible IMO.
Because I think it looks cool and I drive it everyday.
