2000 Civic ground issues

So I changed my headunit ground the other day hoping to eliminate some engine noise. I grounded my Alpine 9853 to the dash support at the back of my dash. Another honda guy told me that was a good spot.

Ever since I did that I have been getting some funky interference. Sometimes I will get some insane engine noise(goes with RPMS) and when I would touch the brake my CD player would shut off, then turn back on. But the engine noise isn't a constant thing. It comes and goes in spells. But when the engine noise is there, usually then it shuts off (the cd player) if brake is applied.

Headunit is not powering anything, right now I'm just running a 4 channel hooked up to some Components.

So anyone want to confirm that the dash support is a good place? Also, any ideas about the engine noise coming and going?

Thanks for any help!

Another question....anyone have tips for getting the rear interior pieces off? I don't wanne end up breaking the plastic.
