Why is the rms so high on those jbls? Doesnt that mean they have terrible sensitivity
Its not 160 each side, its 80 each side. Still though, its not the set you get if you want loud, it sounds good but it wont keep up with more then 1500 watts of substage. get the p660 if you want loud jbls.

i figured as much, just the specs sheet said differently. I have hertz hsk components in my car powered by a Sundown 150.4 and a substage of SA-12 on a 1000rms. It all blends nicely even on full tilt bass songs, those Hertz keep up all day. Fuggin amazing speakers.

Im building this in a friends 96 honda accord. Gonna run him a sa-12 as well on 1000rms. Kinda looking for speakers that will keep up with that. That Sa-12 gets loud A'F'.

I am currently using Morel Maximo components for my front stage in my Accent and for the price they are awesome! Feeding them 80 watts RMS but don't expect them to sound like CDT HDs for example (which is what I had before the Morels). Not in the same class, obviously going by price, but excellent value for the money.

With a $200 budget for front speakers your friend is going to end up with a very bass heavy vehicle that is very weak in midbass. You should also plan to fully treat the doors to reduce vibrations and rattles, block road noise and to add absorption behind the speakers.

x2 on all of this. He also should be looking at comp sets that present a 2ohm load to make the most of the amps power. All suggestions have been 4ohm so far. If he bumps that budget up even 75 bucks it opens all kinds of possibilities.

More power is not going to make up for the deficiency of a very small motor in a 6.5" woofer.

edit: What would be a good compromise is to let the subwoofer play up to 100 Hz, if it will do so cleanly, and just live with the midbass pulling to the rear. Then you can run a higher HPF and more power up front and not worry as much about smoking a $200 component set.

I agreed and wth everything in you last post and agree with this post as well. if he bumps his budget up though he will get better power handling and better imaging and wont have to set his lpf for his sub so high.
