200 Amp Alternator

I dont know exactly how they do it. They do something with the coils in it (if that is what they are) just watch out for the amps that the alt puts out at idle some H.O. alts put out lower then stock at idle which isnt very good. and for 1/0 gauge wire go to http://knukonceptz.com or http://weldingsupply.com. If I ever need a new alternator my moms friend owns a Alternator and Starter show with his brother and said that they can make me a H.O. alt if I want one for free.
So how do I know what amps it runs at idle? What is a good idle amps for a 200 amp alt?

Where ever you get the alternator from ask how many amps it puts out at idle, "good" would probably be around 80-90. Some do like 30 at idle then around 2000 RPM it will put out what the companys says it does.

heres a website that I got off of mustang monthly, their alt puts out 100 at idle and 200 max.
P.S. My friend has a 2000 mustang GT also and wanted to know what would be some good first mods to do to his car to get a little more out of it? its an auto though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

Ya I saw that before. Thats too expensive for a alt. Well its a auto, I would get a transgo shift kit. You can chirp gears in that. Depends on what he wants to do later on, but now cold air intake, timing adjuster, rear end gears I will say 3.73s or 4.10s. Performance chip, but not going to gain alot since no forced induction (nitrous, blower). Get a exhaust, x pipe I perfer, but H is good for sound.

I dont get what I need. What do I need to attach from the alt to the battery? How do I make that connection. where is a kit that already has everything with terminals and so on.

All you have to do is get the alternator and install it, get 1/0 gauge wire and cut it to the appropriate length, get 1/0 gauge crimp ends and crimp them in a vise, connect that to the + terminal on your battery and to the + on the alternator. and sinch the alternator is on top and not stuffed down in the engine bay it should be able to install it and run wires.

How come right now I dont see anything (wires) from alternator to battery right now? I dont even see that little red postive thing. It must be hidden in the back. Should I use 0 gauge from alt to battery since I have 0 gauge as my power wire from battery going to system.
