20.1's at it again

err your fuses throw the whole concept out of wack. real world people dont run 2 mojo 4k's on a 100 amp fuse but they do in meca. the problem with the way they do it is it backwards from the other orgs. the plus to it is it keeps costs down except for fuses lol
not really out of wack. not ideal maybe, but definatly a step in the right direction.

it gets away from the BS usaci power ratings, and levels the playing field a little.

no more fake ratings like 750w, when the amp is actually rated at 1800w and isn't available to the public..... :cough: :cough:

i second that :cough: :cough:

I also second that step in the right direction!

Anyone can play with the fuse game.. just burp, if hte fuse holds, put in a smaller one until you can just barely hold long enough for the TL to get its reading.

Not anyone can get amps that magically double + some power rating after the rules change //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

this is competition for pete's sake //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Rules are Rules and MECA makes it nice and fair!

whats out of wack is you can run any amp as long as it lasts four seconds granted some spl guys setups blow up with or without a fuse... the rules should be up to date enough to class the amps propperly i know they made a few rulings at kc about amp power ratings...they always had under rated amps as long as i can remember i just dont see the point in running amps larger than their real fuse rating and still calling it a level playing feild... why not make it 20 seconds of the 30 sends you are allowed and keep it? a system should be safe and should be able to play it full tilt if you cant do that its more or less seeing who can build the loudest fire cracker .. you can tweak those rules to be it more effiecent class d's or running 16v..

lol i seen it in fact i know who did it lol

but it wont be the difference between someone running 3 20.1's and one orion 2500d... assuming the 20.1 is as great as people say it is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

How can you argue the fuse should last for 30 seconds, when you know for fact that a majority of the usaci setups would probably set on fire if played for that duration???

Everyone is level with the fuse because everyone can use the same fuse... whether you have to last for 2 seconds or 2 minutes - everyone is on the same playing field.

?? how is it good for MECA? MECA doesn't rule by power anymore. they rule by fuse rating instead of MAX power now.
the 20.1 produces lots of voltage, and low amperage.....this is why the 20.1 is good for meca //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

man im really gonna have to save up and pick up a pair of these for my new mean setup //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

..they always had under rated amps as long as i can remember i just dont see the point in running amps larger than their real fuse rating and still calling it a level playing feild.
it's level because you can use the same 50A fuse that i can. nobody has a 'special' 150A fuse that has 50A written on it in marker...

some amps will work well, some won't.

sometimes 4 amps at 4ohm are better than 2 amps at .12343762 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

its all ohms law. what boils down to is voltage and eff of the amp. you end up having the same or about the same discrepancies as you would between amps. by the time you figure the best amp and the two 8 volt batteries you are sstill talking about an advantage. if you want to call it "more practicle" so be it but in street classes in the other leagues they run the standard electrical systems that you would drive with. if their true meaning is to keep the costs down and make it fair 16v systems wouldnt be an option....the average person buying these amps isnt looking at it as a meca/db drag amp when people say one is better than the other the 20.1 reguardless has more potential in a standard hook up. also from what i seen its very solid. if 1 amp is 5%-15% more efficient at 50 amps and can take 16v that would be advantagious to the guy that is running a class a/b amp or the regular joe just running a 12.5-13.5v system.
