2-ways powered by HU clip on occasion

Ok so I was a total no0b when I installed my HU and I know I skipped a step or two. I've learned a few things about car audio now, but I'm still not an expert. So here's the story...when at loud volumes, my 2-ways (refer to sig for specs) sometimes clip...as far as I know, that's what they do. I'm not positive that my definition of clipping is everyone else's, but basically, you'll hear no noise coming out of them for a second or two, but the subs will still be bumpin. So I'm wondering if my skipping the grounding the HU to the car is what may be causing this. In case you're too stupid to look at my sig - I've got a '94 Accord, so thoughts on where I could ground this to would be much appreciated...I figure somewhere behind the radio in that general area would be fine though.

Thanks in advance!

I actually have the two up front (in the door panels) hooked up via the stock connector, I desoldered it from the crappy, blown stock speakers and soldered it onto the pioneers. As for the back speakers...I snipped the stock connector off and have the + and - leads connected via a wire nut and plugged into the speakers with quick disconnects or something. They've got some metal connector soldered on in there and they've got a plastic sleeve covering it, but you just slide it onto the speaker terminals.

Hmm...weird. I've never really had a problem with them - just when I turn the volume up to around 30+ they start getting really distorted. I'd like to get an amp for them though, so I can filter out the bass, just have those notes going to my subs.

Well I just grounded it with a 22 gauge wire to some metal that's mounted to the car. I ran my iPod for a good 10 minutes at volume 30 just idling and I didn't get any clipping at all. So I guess I don't really need any more input on this.

Thanks.
