I wanna share my build experience , maybe I could help someone on what to do and , what not to do. Used 3/4 birch , wood glue, caulk and nails ,screws , wood filler, paint and polyurethane and a speaker wire terminal box.
Found these for 3$ at menards , I relied on them for a square positioning , kind of flimsy but did the job. I would recommend these if your a noob builder like me
Had the square clamps hold things in place while I marked the location with a pencil, then removed port, measured and marked the outside of the box so I knew where to lay my nails.
Laid my top on with glue, clamped, nailed and let dry.
I later added a brace
I did a lot of wood filling and sanding, wanted it to be seamless - I used a elmers wood filler that applies pink and turns white when dry. So far so good ....
3 coats of paint and 3 coats of poly and the box was complete .
I honestly wouldn't recommend this paint, it applies an inconsistent spray pattern and the poly although is supposed to protect , scratches easily. Living and learning ....
Finally complete and installed , matches the van Browns , bangs hard and heavy as hell!!! And a special thanks to all who helped me with the build Ccstang, Jeff and and many more - I hope I can help someone in some way as I've been helped.
