First cut didn't go so well. Immediately stopped everything and went to the store for masking tape.



Much better





This was my first cut with the new router.



Took about passes to get through.

U are either cutting to fast or have the wrong saw blade... I don't use tape and the wood never looks like that unless I need a new blade bad

Have to get creative with clamps and square.







Wanted a flush terminal so went with a cup for this build.

Possibly the blade. It's the 40 tooth rip blade that came with the saw.

Some sanding after hitting the edges with a 3/8 roundover.





You can see how much sanded surface vs non sanded made in stain absorption.



First coat done.



220 sanding and a 2nd coat.



All done except for drying.

The terminal cup recess is stained as well. Just doesn't look like it in the pic.

Nice !!!! I just painted my box this weekend as well and for some reason it seems that the edges of the birch ply do not grab the paint very well. I see in your picture some white on the edges , very similar to what I have.

Why not just use bed liner spray? Much thicker than paint and gives the box texture.

Because I wanted to see the grain. And it's for a customer and it would cost upwards of 100 bucks to have a shop spray liner it.
