2 subs or one sub ?

so a dealer/installer was telling me that 2 subs will be better than one sub both equally the same power total 1 sub total power = 2 subs total power. He said it would be better cause of more cone area and it will hit hard also is this true? This will be for a ported box and will it be louder and hit harder?

Only time they may not be is when you don't have ENOUGH space to PROPERLY do 2 12s, but have sufficient room for one. Better to have one proper sized box for one sub then a box to small for 2 woofers.

ic now well i might do 3 jbl w12gti in my trunk or i can do one dd9512? which would be louder i am guessing the 3 12s. I just have to make sure i have enough room for 3 12s which the dealer said i could do 2 15s but it would take the whole trunks so 30 vs 36 i think i might have enough room. also i could always do 3 10s if i needed to since i need ot run a 4ohm load so what u think i should do 1 big 12 or 3 smaller size rms 12 or 3 tens? or 2 15s?

If all you want is loud bass without a desire for sound quality, throw a couple 15s in there and you will get what you are looking for.

normally the more surface area ur subs displace the louder it will be.. however if the single sub will hit a littler faster then the 2 if they together = the same power as the single sub... wut are the subs u are considering???

Back to the OP, I'm actually considering going to single 15 setup instead of the 2 i have now. Ithink i can get the same output from the single sub, just because it gonna be a better quality and louder sub. but its all in the install.
