Are they on an amp? Are they installed in the doors or kicks? Do you have any midbass drivers? A lot of it is going to have to do with tuning also. With my stock components I was able to make it sound like there was a kick drum in my front dash. It took a lot of work and time though. There's a whole lot to be explained if your new to SQ/SQL, I would reccomend checking out diymobileaudio.com, if you haven't already. A lot of knowledgable people on there and helpful posts. Mids are in the doors, tweeters in the A-pillars, running off Alpine CDA-9884 head unit.

I'd like to be able to do something in the kicks but I think I'm going to wait and do that in the next car I get. This ride just has to get me through college.

Still trying to decide what frequency I should have the enclosure tuned at to give the best punch while not being too peaky and having bad roll off above and below the tuned frequency.

People have recommended everywhere between 30Hz and 44Hz. What do you think?

I personally would like tuning it on the lower side. On a side note, what year lancer do you have and what part of Texas are you in? I'm working on installing my system in my '08. Starting with a single 10" Fi Q sealed. If I get to the point you're at where the kick drum isn't doing it for me, I plan to try a ported box tuned to around 28-30Hz.

From my highly limited experience playing with WinISD, I seem to get pretty flat response curves when tuned in the low 30's. However, I really have no idea if I'm using the program right. So you think low 30's would be good for the kick drum punch?

I have an '04 Lancer in the Dallas area.
