title is simple 2 sdc2.5 15" vs single hdc 12

both setups off 1800w... now before i get flamed I am smart enough to know that the 15's will be louder, question is enough of a difference to make it worth it.

SDC's are only like 1dB down on the HDC's up to around 2k of power, plus the HUGE advantage in cone area.

8-8.5cubes @ 38Hz would slam on that power. Did a box like that last year off a 1200D and it's rather impressive.

strass i can always count on you for AQ advice. This is going in a standard cab truck, which i know no one thinks is possible but i've got the pics to prove theres 8.5 cubes behind the rear seats while still having enough room to see out the back window (about 4 inches over the window line tho)

my hdc 12 on 1800w flexs the truck to the point it looks like grenade is going off in the cab, crack the window and feel the air rush out. i figure 2 15's off the same wattage in a great big ported box should be painful, more importantly should put me in upper 140's territory (hopefully)

and later on when i can afford the 250amp alt and tripple dekas ill swap out the bxi2000 and sdc2.5's for a 40.1 and hdc's

- 2 sdc2.5 15s should be louder than 2 SDC 2.5 12s

So going from 1 HDC 12 to 2 SDC2.5 15s should provide a pretty decent increase in output.

yes but audiocontrol (i know i live in brevard... they don't know what a termlab is) on the AC i did 143db at 44hz so im guessin 139-141 on termlab

its one of those things where its like "wow thats really loud for a single 12" i don't want that i want "holy crap thats fn loud" i don't expect to be in 150's but i would like upper 140's considering at the time the only other person who cleared 140db had 8 cvr 12s in a suburban, and he hit 145

Yehh it can be dead on when set right....but theres a knob on it that can inflate any number to 10db

yeah ive always had a 1sub setup. got 1 18 now but im going back to 1 15 since im not happy with the results and i like the smaller box with 1 15

yeah i love the 1 sub wow, and gettin beat by a guy with 8 12's further proves quality not quantity, but i still wanna be number 1 lol

im trying to utalize every in^2 of space i have, i could do 4 10's or 3 12s or 2 15s or 1 18, 2 15s has the greatest cone area, which right now im on limited power of 2k watts, so while 4 10s "should" be the loudest because i can throw the most wattage at it, i have to maximize my cone area because my wattage right now is a constant.

If you are trying to get the loudest, 2 15s is the obvious choice.. That should end the thread right there..

I've built a LOT of boxes for AQ subs, mostly HDC's though, but did one SDC box for 2 15's and it SLAMMED off a 1200D. I would think mid 140's daily wouldn't be a problem and higher on burps with more power. That box/tuning killed on the lows which is perfect since he mostly listens to rap.
