2 sa 8s vs 1 sa 15

imo i would go with a better amp closer to the subs ratings. quality>quantity imo. i dont really get when people get nice subs or speakers and go cheap on the amp. kind of pointless. next thing you know your making a fs thread selling motors and baskets or pming splaudio.

not saying the mb quarts are bad as i havent heard one in person...just in general.
yea one 15 is a lot more cone area.
It doesn't have a ton more cone area, and sometimes it doesn't even matter. The T-line boxes are, as @Kangaroux called it, 'stupid efficient'.

didnt say ton. i said a lot. 70% more cone area is not a little bit lol. i still cant see the two 8s keeping up with the 15 especially in low frequencies. and your right sometimes it doesnt matter when your dealing with two 8" high end subs vs one 15" lower end sub. like i said put the 15 in the right box and i dont think the 8s touch it.

I didn't mean to say that I was correcting you on the 'ton' part, and I'm sorry about the misunderstanding. I was simply emphasizing that it wasn't like, 100% more. And yes, I realize 'in the right box' a 15 could potentially throw these 8s off of their track. However, OP only has 2 boxes to work with. And given the boxes in the situation, I bet the 8s are going to outperform the 15. Even on lower frequencies. The size of the subwoofer has almost nothing to do with how low it will go.

didnt see the box for the 15. but were talking subs in the same line and thats why i said the 15 would get lower. this all being said that the subs were in the right box. lol. of course the 15 in a poop box will not out perform the 8s in the t-line. bottom line is the 8s will not compare to the 15 in the right box. i would personally go with the 15 and have a box built for it. you might be able to get the 15 and have a box built local for the cost of just the two 8s. if you can build yourself then the 15 and the box would be cheaper than just the two 8s and you would get more output.

these guys are fibbing you, that is how you calculate cone area. my 18 has the same area as a 10 and a 8 together
Listen to this guy, he has plenty experience. Don't listen to what anybody else says, they're wrong. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
