I reconed these with help from my friend. These subs where NOT blown. I just had to change the voice coils to D2's. They where D1's and i just got my secound aq 2200d amp and im going to strapp them and wire them @ 2ohm. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

It was alot harder to take apart then to recone. AQ was WELL over built with 8 layer spiders. Dj plz correct me if im wrong. The glue is just insane. Very strong stuff, its like super glue on CRACK!

Anyways here the recone picz.

I order new baskets BECAUSE GRINDING GLUE SUX! If I am doing someone else's recones, I always tape the gap IMMEDIATELY afer getting the coil out.

No shim pics? They look nice, I hope it works out for ya.

good point about putting tape there. i'll have to remeber that.

Good job. Just did my first pair a few weeks ago and x2 on the glue being a bish to get off the baskets. Was the hardest part. Metal scraper, hammer, and brake cleaner then clean it up with a Dremel/sanding roll did the trick...

x2, definitely gotta tape off the gap or just take the basket right off. But yeah, its almost worth it to get new baskets if you can afford it lol.

Yeah I usually take a flat head screw driver, and a chisel and a hammer, just work my way around the surround and spider landing, and then the die grinder handles the rest.

baskets aren't much and don't change shipping very much as they aren't heavy. Angle grinder FTMFW (with respirator I might add)

What would be your cost savings per unit having your coils wound in aluminum instead of copper? Can you quantify the efficiency (or dB) gains...
