Soundstream 1000s for power. I have space for 2 12s in a sealed enclosure with .85 internal volume for each.

Which speakers for no more than $250 each (preferably less)? I would like it to pound but still sound clear. What voicecoil config and how should I wire them?

The rest of the system= MBquart 6.5 seperates in all corners and PPI PCX480 for the highs.

Please advise...

These at the specs on the Daytons, will they be good in the .85 sealed?

yes they will. Another option, even better, IMO is this http://www.diymobileaudio.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=32

A BIG box for this thing, like the largest they recommmed is 1cube! A .707 alignment is .5 a cube. So your box will be very good for this sub, should get fairly low and not need as much power. The only thing to keep in mind with these is that they are overmotored vs the strength of their cones. They have more excursion than the dayton, almost 2x as much, but they arent' meant to be beat on. I'd run a subsonic filter to cut out all the info below say 25hz to keep excursion under control. Other than that they should get pretty loud, sound AMAZING and be well under your budget. These are top notch SQ woofers, if sold by a company like tymphany they'd probably go for 300+. All in all, use the subsonic and these will be just like the daytons in SQ, but louder. Just dont' go stupid and play tones on them or anything.

I can say personally if I had little space and needed a 12, I'd run a diyma in a heartbeat. Granted I'm a SQ guy that like's my shit loud, so I'd probably use 2 of them at least. If I didnt' have a box premade like you do, i'd run 3-4 of the daytons ported in .8cubes each, give or take a bit.

Nice looking sub, how many watts rms would it take in a small sealed box?

is 600 rms right?

The DIYMA's are good quality. Don't hesitate on those if your plans are for a sealed design.
Best,

Mark
Ya, the box is built and installed so sealed it is going to be. I always like the tight bass from a sealed box. I am into Classic rock, and dont need the boomy hip hop anymore, though I am sure it will boom some.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

NPDang built them based around the Peerless XLS design. There's nothing wrong with that... at all //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

I belive the thermal rating on them is 1000 watts. Depending on box size you will rarely need that, 600 sounds good to me. Like I said, not really meant to be slammed the heck out of, so 600 should be fine.

Since you have a soundstream amp.. Just get the Soundstream T-5's 12"S OFF EBAY, 325 shipped a pair...

Here is the situation. I have 2 Alpine Type Rs that I bought in 02 in the box right now, it is a sealed measuring 10"*30"*15" split in 2 with .75 mdf. I would like to know if either the Diyma or the SS T5s would sound better. I am looking for clear sound that I can bang and not distort.

Alpine Type Rs from 02?

Diyma 12s

Soundstream T5s?

Sound Quality is #1, #2 the lowest I can hit given the space,#3 spl, #4 under 200 each.
