2 boston g1's vs one g2

im looking for a very budget setup for someone, that will sound decent, get decently loud off like 500 watts and costs as little as possible...

after reading about the boston g2 and checked it out, and for the price seems ratehr interesting.. now they also have the boston g1, which you can get about two for only slightly more money...

now i know the g2 is a surprior sub but the g1 doesnt look bad itself..esp for the price// and with two of them should stack up and be a little louder than the single g2... but i dont want this person to get something theyll regret... so if you think a single g2 would be loud enough ill go that way, but if anyone has ever used a g1, i'd like to know your expierence.

thats what i was thinking, also easier to wire down the resistance and also the g2's dont have that much more excursion and the two g1's could take more power overall

but SQ is the main goal here, more than being loud, another g2 could always be added later... but if it not gonna be that big of a difference.. it doesnt matter then

the altenator is the biggest problem holding me back..

Any car out there can support a 500w amp with the stock alt.

I'd go with the pair of G1s. Spreading out the power with the added benefit of more cone area is a better recipe for SQ than trying to get the same output from a single driver unless that single driver is MUCH better than the pair.

yeah i know it could handle more than 500 watts but the g2 can take more than its rated 300, and i dont think the alt would be enough to handle two g2's giving them what they need... which would be 800-1k... in the long run i know i would much ratehr have two g2's but i just dont see it being an option anytime soon

another possiblity was a jbl p1222 or two memphis power subs... but i dont know how their SQ is...

and im still worried the g1's wont preform like i want... i know they wont be the best considering how cheap they are but im just worried the g2's are that much better...

They are Boston subs. I've never heard anything but good about the sound of any of their subs. The G2 might be able to handle more than their rated power, but if you are concerned primarily with SQ, they don't even need 300 each and all you will get by trying to force more power on them is more distortion.

I wished Boston got more support on these forums I have owned over 20 differents kinds of subs since last January , and nothing has even come close to my Bostons. Do one g5 with a gtr and throw it 500 watts he will love it.

im just gonna bump this one more time, anybody have any other suggestions possibly? im still afraid in the long run it might be smarter to get a g2 now and then add another later... but i dont know how much better they will be than two g2's.. the only main difference i see besides magnet size, there is minimal difference in (rated) excrusion and voice coil size... the only other thing is the g2 has a much higher gts.. (.65 or so) while the g1 is around .35.. so overall their sensativity is even about the same
