2 Blown Alpine Type R's. Need Advice on Buying New Subs.

I Recently blew my 2 12" alpine Type Rs:verymad:

They were the 4ohm subs and i had them wired at 2 ohms up to a Kicker ZX850.2 amp (425 watts rms x2 @2 ohms stable).

Somehow the Frequency and Bass Boost got turned up all the way and i didnt take note, blowing the subs. I think i may have hit the settings on the amp when moving the subs around.

Anyway, I was considering getting a different pair of subs such as 2 of the rockford p3s or maybe 2 of the kicker cvx. Or should i stick with the type rs?

I would like the SQ of the alpine and a hard hit, any other subs to do the trick other than the ones i named? Or which would you suggest?

Also, the are 4ohm dvc.. How did you have them wired at 2ohms????

cause if you have a dvc 4ohm doesnt that mean that each vc is 2 ohm

Look into getting more power. That amp isn't big enough to push R's or CVX's to their potential unless you clip the hell out of the amp. CVX's would probably have better sq (from what I've seen) than a R. I had a R and it sounded like shit. However, the R would probably do better in the SPL department.

yeah before the real flaming starts....if you have dvc 4 ohm sub...you have a sub with 2 4ohm coils

out of the subs u listed stick with the alpines

if u want to go a new route

i like the aq's i think there they are one of the few sub companies {not the only} that offers good products and customer service at very fair prices

type r's aren't the best...yeah i rather go with the some type x.
