Yeah I heard of RE. They make good $hit, & its good value for money too. I first heard of them about 2 yrs ago when they were making their prototype models.
You see Lloyd, my motto in life has always been ORIGINALITY – I always set out to do my cars/systems in a v.original way, different from anybody else’s wherever possible. That way when people see it they go ‘wow, what’s this, how did you do this, how long did it take’ ect, as opposed to, ‘oh, its another system incorporating 4 ported Solo L7’s, lets move on’.
Whilst there isn’t ‘the best’ subwoofer, the category we are talking about has some very capable contenders, all of which can quite capably do 165dB+ - BA, Adire, DD, Treo (ohhhhhhhh yes!), RE, Shocker Audio, Hurricane Audio, for example, and all of which, depending on opinion, can be classed as better than the other.
Undoubtedly these are all capable drivers. But yes, like the W7 for instance, some are more expensive than others – to afford a quad coil Inhuman sub would cost you an arm and a leg, about the same as it would cost to acquire the legendary 18” Treo.
The RE line, like the Hollywood Excursion subs, another very good although budget woofer, will give similar results at a fraction of the cost…….but when you take my motto into account & ask yourself how many BA installs do you on a regular basis, I think you will see where I’m coming from.
Same would go for the best SQ subs – Eclipse Ti’s, W7, CMPx2, Diamond Audio’s flagship range – the W7 is a prime example – anything up to $1000 for the 13.5” version. The Ti, even though its overpriced, is way cheaper & from what I have heard is way more capable than the JL.
Too often I use this example, but here it comes again. Take a Toyota Supra Twin-Turbo. 1000bhp. NOS. DVD. Veilside bodykit, 20” alloys………….quarter? In about 9 seconds. Cost? A fraction of what the following vehicle would cost. And way faster too.
McLaren F1. All standard. Yeah its class. Yeah its fast…..but not as fast as the Supra……..but the McLaren is ORIGINAL, even though it does a similar job at a very overpriced cost.
