So what amp should I put with it?

subs are 4ohms. need cheap amp $100-$200.

I plan on putting it in a ported box.

will putting 600 watts rms into them wear the subs out faster?

and 2 ohms will work with a 4 ohm sub?

this is my first time putting in a car sound system.

2 ohms is what the subs will be wired to so they get the full power from the amp because 4 ohm + 4 ohm wired in parallel = 2ohms so thats that. Also the amp that was stated is 600w rms total so each sub would be getting 300w rms so thats no prob.

600w rms is 300w per sub, thatll b JUST fine u can throw more power at them if u wish

also u will b wiring those 2 4ohms subs to achieve a 2ohm load, like in this pic form the rockford wiring wizard

thanks a lot. got some more questions.

will the frequency range of low pass on the amp effect the tuning of the ports where they cant be tuned lower than like 40hz or where the sound wont come out lower frequencies?

is it necessary to have a capacitor?

No. The lowpass effects frequencies ABOVE the crossover point. For example, set the lowpass to 70hz, and it will attenuate the frequencies above 70hz. It will not affect the frequencies below 70hz (the "passband", because they pass through unaffected).

is it necessary to have a capacitor?
Nope.

I've decided to get the type r's instead. I found an amp its a Profile California AP2000 it has 480 watts x 2 @ 2ohms and its peak is 1000W x 2 @ 2ohms.which is perfect. I'm going to get a Sony CDX-F7700 mp3 player and 2 pioneer 6x9 TS-A6990R 5-way speakers. all of this will be going in a 69 cutlass supreme.

whats better Dual 2-ohm 2" voice coils or Dual 4-ohm 2" voice coils, other than the voice coils there the same?

That amp might be a little to powerful for the subs.

Neither is "better", which voice coil configuration you need depends upon what amp you have. If you want that AP2000, and you want to wire one sub to each channel @ 2ohms, then you need to get the Dual 4-ohm coils so that you can wire each sub down to a 2ohm load (wire the voice coils in parallel).

I'd agree.
