(2) 8 vs (1) 12

I'm getting sub(s) for Christmas, & need input on which route to go.

I already have my amp mounted & wired up....a new AudioPipe AP1000.1D

I will be wiring it to 2ohm, which is 700w rms.

I've decided on Sundown & can't decide between 2 SA-8's or 1 SA-12. Which setup would provide the most output? I'm kinda leaning towards the SA-8's because it's different from what anyone I know runs. (either route the enclosure will be ported)

I would go with the SA-8's. That's actually what I'm currently looking to buy, and put them on ~500WRMS+ each. My old DD1008a's got loud, and surprisingly low, and these are definitely the better of the 2. That, and I've seen the numbers some people are putting up with single SA-8 and dual SA8's, and they're VERY impressive.

Why not run the amp @ 1 ohm so you can properly power a pair of the 8"s?
According to Jacob @ Sundown 500w is enough to make an SA-12 move. So I figured 350 should work for an SA-8, which has a smaller motor.

My front stage is Image Dynamics CX62 components off a PPI Art A300, I'm just using the AP @ 700w until I can afford to replace my Duralast w/ a Kinetik 2400, then I'm gonna switch the AP for my PPI Art A1200.

& I'm using the JL Cleansweep to integrate w/ my factory h/u

Get a 12" Incriminator Flatlyne...

I can get bnib SA-12's for $140, why would I spend over $400 on an IA sub?

I was just unsure of the potential of an SA-8, I know the SA-12 can get pretty loud & low w/ 800w or so. Which is more than enough to put my friends to shame.....most of the run Alpine or Kicker subs.....I just thought it would be humerous to have an 8'' sub that put my friends dual12 setups to shame.

The 12" Flatlyne isn't $400. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Incriminator subs are extremely nice too. And to be completely honest, I'd rather have the 12" Flatlyne than a pair of SA-12's. It's a hell of a nice subwoofer...

$320 is the cheapest I could find, which is too much for me.

How would a single SA-8 & JL Audio 500/1v2 sound?

I know people around here don't care for JL, but since I'm using the factory h/u I think it would be great. The slash amps have very nice built in eq/xover controls. which is a real plus considering I wont be able to tune anything from the h/u

the reason I'm using the stock h/u is because its the Alpine RB1 Navigation unit w/ 6-disc cd & an aux input I added.

my best friend has 2 12'' RF Punch P1 subs running 400w rms total. if an SA-8-500/1v2 combo would out do that I'd be happy, plus it'd be funny imo
