2 18's

if i go with 2 18's ported to around say 9-10cuft........vs... 4 12's same cuft.....same car.......same power say............1500rms each sub......and 1500rms split between 4 12's..do you think the 2 18's can hang with them 4 12's i know it depends on how the setup will be.....but whats yall opinions on that before i go out and buy my RE sx's? i know them 18 will be real deep and thats all i like is that hard hitting deep SHITZ

Bet I can get an 8" to play as low as a 18" sub:

Two 18's would be pretty cool. You don't see it much. What car is this going in to? And if this is for a daily driver it is overkill...

4 12s can have a great low end. Mine do, and they will leave your ears hurting on the lows.

If you can build your box in the trunk and have them facing the cabin that would be pretty insane. Meade had 2 18's in a Civic in the same fashion. Pretty cool if you ask me.

But remember. Bigger does not always equal better. You could get just as loud if not louder with a simple 2 12" sub setup. Most of the time it is vehicle dependant...

alot of guys down here does 4 15's sealed in my type car n they be loud so i am guessin them 18's ported will be like ****!!! wang wang wang lol...thats true bigger is not better....well SORTA CUZ my girlfriend said her x was very sma....wait thats another story lol

Yeah and for those 18's you need atleast 6-8 cuft each think about it. One 18 would be plenty loud.

Im sure you could, but I think your comment is misleading. Just about any size speaker will play a 20hz note, or even a 1hz note. But I bet you can't get an 8 to match an 18's output on the low end, unless you stack the deck in favor of the 8 with power, install or enclosure etc. All other things being equal, you cannot even compare the low end output of an 18 to an 8.
Like spkrman said, 9-10 cu ft simply is not enough room for a pair of 18's ported... none that I can think of anyway. You'd choke them to death.
