2 18" Mach 5 MAW, or 1 15" alpine type R ????

Cant you port a box large enough to drop the RMS power handling of a driver ? TO effectively compensate ?
Yes, building an oversized ported is going to lower the effective power handling and reinforce the low end. In your case, thermal power handling isn't going to be an issue

Either way, I know a good place that has them for sale. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Any more information on the IXL 18" ? That thing looks like a pure monster, and for $175 shipped ... I just don't know what to say.

It is going to be a larger box driver than the MJ-18, so if people want high output, and very good SQ, and a large driver at a sick price, the MJ-18 is an awesome option.

But if you have more space and more power, the IXL-18 would be the choice. That shipped price is the pre-order price.

I can wholeheartedly recommend Mach5 for this //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

We just have to admit they do get ***n LOUD !!!
So do plenty of other speakers.

(((IF THAT WASNT FAKE BULL SH*T)))
Yup, a year's worth of work and testing is considered "fake bullshit" by keyboard commandos //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'm still not convinced of the MAW's SQ potential...need to hear them more...but getting loud is something they do in spades //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

hey do you think that I would notes a BIG dif if I go frum a maw-12 with about 350Wrms/400Wrms to a maw-15 with about 500/600Wrms

"Im convinced my little HCCA Orion 250 is doing close to 1kw @ 1ohm.

I just dont like how it keeps freegin getting hot on me. If I have to buy a different amplifier then I will LOL.. I just dont want to do that. I love bragging about my little 2x50W cheater amp hitting harder than most peeps.

Just this Easter sunday. My cousin has 4 10" visonik sub pairs.. he bought them at pep boys.. their a little kit, come with an amplifier and 2 subs + wireing kit. Well he put all 4 of them in his taurus, and we just compared one anothers using that cheap little DB meter from Wal-Mart lol.

My pair of 10" Orion P series hit 6Db's louder and hit the meters threshold in my VAN !!! lol

The meter only goes to 130Db's and nothing passed that. You would be amazed at how many peoples systems dont hit harder than just 125DB's lol.

Anyhow I had him in denial lol.. Plus he doesnt know jack about ohm law to know that even though it says HCCA 250 .. It's not a 250W amplifier.

Anyhow, I figured I could maybe give those pair of MJ-18's and not over heat my amplifier @ 1 ohm load. Put it at a 2 ohm load, and I think I could get away with gain all the way up. Subs would be fine, and slightly underpowered untill I get a higher powered amplifier.

I would not turn the gain all the way up you might clip the signal and blow the subs.
oh come on now denim. gain to the max, is just like balls to the wall. its the right thing to do.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
