which would be the better sub. I am mainly interested in spl. it would be powered by a hifonics 1606d. also has anyone had any experience with sonix electronix. I am shy about ordering online but their prices are great.

I have two 12" Alpine Type R's and built a 4ft^3 slot port box tuned to 35Hz for them and I am impressed for the $120 I spent for each type r.

Type R is an SQL woofer not SPL.It is an SQL woofer becuase it has the ability to sound good even at high volumes.

SPL geared subs usually don't sound all that good but pound like a MF King Kong vs Godzilla fight LOL!

So what are you,SQ SQL or SPL?

I am spl, but a sql system would not be a bad idea because i guess you get the best of both worlds. Is that power acoustic amp a good one. I thought about that brand at one point.

Yes and no.

It is rated 1800w RMS x 1 @ 1 ohm with 14.4v power supply but I think I read somwhere that it actually only does 1250w RMS x 1 @ 1 ohm with a 14.4v power supply.Also it has a THD of .5%

It claims to be 2400w MAX/PEAK but when you add the fuse rating you get 160 amperes and 160 x 14.4 = 2304w MAX/PEAK and someone feel free to correct me but that isn't even taking the amplifiers efficiency into the equation.

Most class D amplifiers are 75% to 90% efficient.

2304 x .75 = 1728w MAX/PEAK

2304 x .90 = 2073w MAX/PEAK.

Now again someone correct me if I am wrong,hell I pulled that equation out my *** so...you know.....

Hell anyone know what the PA A2400DB really benches in at at 1 ohm on a 14.4v supply?

The new W3v3s are really bad for there price IMO. Im not a big type R fan either, but i would definatly go with those.
