What the freak kind of speaks are these subs 3 or 12 ohm opperation ...what amp do you match these thing with //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
you must be talking about the alum Q subs. They have duel six ohm coils because they're meant to be run in sets of three. you can use just about any amp.....but good luck figuring out how much power it will do in three or six ohms //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
So if I get another one of these subs i could run all three at 1ohm..... won't i need made powe to run these bad boys.... or multiple amps.... another question is how do i rate the power if the are playing @3ohms and the amp is rated @ 2or4ohm opperation... iam not going to get the full power of the amp. is buying another the best solution.......
FYI, i have a alpine 7893 head, 2 sets of infinity componets...2 6x9 infinity....and I am upgrading subs from 2 Bazooka rs 12 and jbl 1200/1 amp. good or bad move. i want to be insane i was going for jlw3 nowever$$$$$cash doesn't flow well in the teaching world.
Need to give them about 500w to make 'em sing, so you need something that's 1500w into one ohm. 1500w class D monoblock amps sell for 300-500 depending on the brand.
hey man, you have a JBL 1200.1 right? it is stable down to 1 Ohm. so, wire 2 alum12q subs in parallel and get a 1.5Ohm load (coils in parallel on each sub and subs in parallel). There is a diagram in the manual that comes with the subs. this will still give you the full 1200W RMS of the amp.
by the way, they sound great. i got a pair and love em.
I dunno who started this rumor that ported boxes sound sloppy.....maybe if you don't build them right, they do....
The only true advantage in sq to sealed vs. ported is that a sealed box will often allow better transient response and more range in the lower and higher octaves. Ported boxes that are tuned correctly will still have very good transient response, and will cover both the high and low end very well......the only difference the average person can tell is that it will get louder near the tuned frequency.
ported or sealed...........i wanna go with sealedi like it and your right sq sucks once it's loud anyway.........your just try'n to keepyour ear drum from break'n
