hmm, ok so heres the plan, im going with two twelves and a kicker 2500.1, and a kinetik hc2400 im pretty tempted to get 2 12" mags, howver im wondering will they get loud enough for me? i had a 15" mag ported before and i want louder. if i got the 2 hd312's id eventually get another kciker 2500.1....im just not sure if its really worth the extra money to have to buy a another kicker 2500.1, plus another kinetik hc2400 like thats another $800 it would cost me to have it fully powered where the 2 12" mags would be fully powered off of a single 2500.1... this system is for daily and the occasional comp, i just dont know if ill hear the extra volume that two fully powered hd312's would give me over two fully powered mags.. thanks for your suggestions

did you even read the whole post? i said i would double the power for the audioque's if it was wortth it, im jsut not sure if it is, ie. will it be $800 louder with two hd312's than two mags with one 2500.1

but either way 2 12" hd3's off double power will DEFINITELY get louder than 2 12" mags, but I think if u tune the box medium-high and supply them with plenty of power that you will be happy with the mags.

if ur really worried about it, spend the extra money and get the hd3s and prepare to kill your hearing

There would be a rather large difference between the mags with 2500 and the HD3's with 5000. Just depends on you more than anything and what you would be satisfied with. If you think you might want more than 2500 to a pair of mags, then I would just go ahead and spend the extra to get the HD3's up front, because it will save you money in the long run.

the mag was in a 3.5 cuft @ 28hz with an orion1200d 1200rms, and what you guys are saying makes sense, spend the money now so i dont have to spend more changing up in the future... i just wonder if 2500.1 running two hd312s will even be decent

I haven't used the hd3's, but I have tested out the DD 95 series.

I would say that 2 mags off of 2500rms would be close to as loud as 2 hd3's off of 2500rms. I didn't notice a noticeable difference in output with 1 mag with around 1000rms, and one 95 series with around 1000rms.

Now if you gave each hd3 2500rms, I would expect it to be a lot louder than a pair of mags off of 2500rms total.

It all depends how crazy you are trying to get with things. 2 mags tuned around 35hz with 2500rms will get crazy loud and for any type of daily system would be overkill. 2 of the hd3's with 2500rms each, would make a great SPL vehicle and would also be way more than anyone could possible need for a daily setup.

I am pretty sure you know how each setup will perform, I think you just need to figure out which route you want to take.

****, showrides, you did a good job of putting everything into perspective. i think im gonna end up going with two hd312's, a hc2400, and a kicker 2500.1 then if i decide im crazy enough down the road and have the cash i will throw on another 2500.1 and hc2400.. either way i predict some major hearing damage in my future //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

I ran 2 hd3 12's off of a 400 watt amp last year in street B at a single point dB Drags event just to prove a point. Even with that small of an amount of power I still put up a 148.3. They are a very efficient sub.

no doubt. just wait until they are broken in properly, which took months for me, but it was well worth it. i cant imagine 2 hd3s in a daily. just fvckin insane subs.

wow thats a nice number for that amount of power. i saw Ledgerwoods score of a 57 on music; its amazing for 4 hd3 12s.
