2 12" Kicker Comp with Pioneer GM-5100T Amp

I just bought a new amp for my Kicker comp subs, and there not working the way they should. I used to have a Kicker ZX400.1 Amp, but I didn't think that was a good enough amp for my 2 Kicker Comp 12" subs. Now after hooking my new amp, the Pioneer GM-5100T 760 Watt Amp, my subs cut out after I get to half my volume level. I put my gain all the way to test it, and when I get to level 15 volume on my system, my subs cut out. My max volume level is 32, so its not running half the power. My subs are run parallel to a 2ohm circuit, so should i separate those? Could that be the problem? What could be the problem? Any help would be great. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks.

Similar to a problem I had.

Mine involved the woofer cutting out on a 6x9 coaxial, though, as I turned up the volume, even though I had the power to spare. I'm guessing that would also be from the low resistance? Since the amp I'm using on it is rated for 8 ohms.

Also, I can answer the above question.

You want to rewire the subwoofers here. Right now you have the subs wired in parallel - each one has a 4 ohm resistance, and when you wire them in parallel, it goes to a 2 ohm resistance. If you wire them in series, the resistance doubles, to 8 ohms, instead of halving to 2. This puts less stress on the amp, as it isn't made to handle the low resistance.

This is how they are wired in the box -

This is how you need to to change it -

However... Another note. Hate to break it to ya, but I'm fairly sure that kicker amp is going to put out more power - as it can be used at 2 ohms, while the pioneer can't.

And another note - do not go by peak power when judging subs and amps. Go by the rated RMS power only.

you mentioned you had the gain all the way up as well right, and it only went to volume 15? maybe if you back the gain off to about 1/3 and see how high the volume goes... never know if that amp could run @ 2 if you dont wind on it too much
