2 12" Eclipse Aluminum Vs. 1 15" Eclipse Titanium

Currently i have 2 12" eclipse aluminum's in my civic but i also have a 15" eclipse titanium just not hooked up right now. Which setup would be louder the 2 12"s or 1 15? I'm guessing the two 12's but the 15 should hit lower. Which setup would you guys run? the only reason i haven't tested the 15" setup out is because i would need to build a box for it which would cost about $50 bucks in supplies. Just wanted to get some input before spending money on a box.

Thanks

Also the amp powering it would be a Hifonics bxi2607d

2-12's should hit harder if given enough power. The advantage of 1 sub is it's one sub. Costs less to buy and replace and power 1 15 vs 2 12's. In my vehicle it's neck and neck volume wise between 2 12's and 1 15.

And btw, 2 12's will get just as low as the 15 in the right box/power combo.

I second that.

Most of the time 2 12"s will be louder just because of cone area, given they are correctly setup, etc...

lol, newbs... Cone area is less relative to output as is any of the electro-mechanicals. The 15" Ti(depending n which version) is possibly a totally different animal. The 88120Ti is a very similar driver to most of the better Al's (tc9 based and sw88120) and the 15 would be easier to encorporate into a proper enclosure since the 12's were high Vas low/mid Qts so most of them needed larger boxes than most will accomodate. The 15 (if its an 88150Ti) is very efficient and has the same Q and is substantially more efficient. The 9152 was a high Qts sub and is only as efficient as the average 12" Al and needed massive enclosures. So, losses due to improper enclosure volumes may be the determining factor, as would be tuning and cabin gain/resonance lol. Displacement/Sd is not very relative to output potential.

I disagree with you that disp/sd isn't relevant for output potential. It might not be in this case, but is in most //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I think you are getting too technical. Simply put, if the 12's are in an optimal enclosure and powered with the same amount of power as the 15 would be, the 12's would most likely have more output.

In order to answer your question, I would need to know what model (e.g. SW4200, SW7524DVC). Also, are you looking to make a ported box or sealed?
