Just wondering is these 2 subs could handle an AQ3500 (older model 3500@1ohm)?? If so, what would be the optimum box for them to be ok with this power?
I have the amp already, and I'm thinking of trading my 10"s for 2 12"s. I just want to be sure that they will be ok with 3500rms. They have a rating of 1K, but I know that's a little underrated for them.
They should be fine on that amp. Do you have the option of trying them out before trading? If so, i'd do that. Just to see if you like it and to make sure the subs aren't blown or anything.
i have ran a single 12 with a 3500D with out issues, but I'm not out of control with amp settings.
Optimal ft3 for a single HDC is 2.25-2.5, you can get by a little smaller when running both in a single chamber enclosure. For your situation I would recommend around 4.5-4.75 after all displacements.
I have two copper 12's on a 2200D each, just make sure your power is clean and keep your gains very low while you break them in. I was giving mine about 500 watts for 2 or so weeks then bumped it up little by little until where I am now. I have had mine since oct and they still aren't completely broken in.
I am getting a box built for 4.5 cubic feet after displacements with 81 inches of port, that is what mike from AQ and pro rabbitt suggested for me
You will be doing it in a new box soon //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif pm coming your very very soon finally caught up with everything else..well sorta //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
They should be fine if you're smart with your equipment. You can run those subs on a Stetsom 12kd if you wanted, it's all about being smart with gain settings, and knowing when your equipment is being stressed too much.
