ported can have great sq too but nothing wrong with going sealed. however you will not have as much output as you would in a ported box.
if you want some really nice sq try an infinite baffle install //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
i think you know what you talking about so let me ask you this IDQv2 vs JLw6v2 which one will sound better in sq? i have a single 12 JLw6v2 right now and i don't want to make a mistake by go with ID. thanks
A low tuned ported box w/ the IDMAX would be pure ***.. Like 2.5ft3 @ 32hz w/ 30^2 of port would be awesome. Heard a few setups with IDMAXs and was soo impressed with all of them. They are sum of the best all around woofers i've ever heard. Don't have huge output potential but they can take a solid 1k daily and they do get decently loud.
if your concerned at all with spl i will say that i metered one of my idmax 12"s in a 3 cubic foot box tuned to 29hz and i metered at 143.7 if that is at all important to you. and was running my old powerbass asa1500.1d at 2 ohms //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
and a Arc Audio 300.4 to a set of Polk Audio sr6500 component up front and a set of Hertz High Energy coaxial on rear and i think they will sound good.
I'm running the IDV3 series and they are the best subs, I have ever heard in my life. Never had 8's get that loud and sound that d a m n good. It don't seem real sometimes, that 8's could sound that good.
