I've got a 2005 12 inch type-R which im running with an alpine mrp-345 amp. I wanted the whole thing to look custom to my car but didnt really fancy getting into fibre glass. When i started making it I hadnt really thought that the shape and dimensions of the box mattered that much to the sound quality. This isnt the actual enclosure but its a template i made of what it will look like

After reading a few of the threads in here im a bit worried that its not going to hit very low. For a start I dont know whether to make it ported or sealed, and theres no way of properly sealing the edges between the wood and the trunk.

Im into hip hop so basically want the bass to hit as hard as possible, space isnt really an issue but obviously the smaller the better, and i really want it to look custom to my trunk, like i dont just want a box sitting there.

Can anyone tell me if they think the enclosure im working on at the moment will work and give good bass, whether i should port it or not, if i should reverse mount the sub or just start again?

if u want a custom made trunk withOUT busting ur budget than ur going to most likely have to go fiberglass...and also do it urself...fiberglass is not that hard, check the threads around here, lots of great tutorials! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

and about seeling teh wood to the side of ur trunk...if ur going that approach, make fiberglass sides and mold them to ur wood, like seen in this threat...that will seal ur box adn give it the look that i believe ur looking for...

crazy4ozs is right, theres enough information on here to walk you through it, i recently built some fiberglass doorpods for my midbass's and they turned out pretty good

sounds rediculous but does anyone have any idea of the volume of a packing peanut?
