Okay so this is my last resort in trying to fix this issue. I have a 1998 Ford Windstar Limited (3.8 Liter engine). This windstar has the ford premium audio system. I was given a Jensen MP6212 from my wife to install. I have had very little luck in figuring out the wiring colors for the speakers.

I have asked on several other resources and they all come back with a very similar if not the same response, The problem is that the speaker colors they list doesn't match whats in my dash.

I also have the wiring colors coming out the Amp if that helps, These wiring colors do not match what is coming from the dash.

I have these colors coming out of the dash:

(These ARE the colors coming from the dash, They're not wrong, I'm not color Blind. This is what is there)

Green (Front L positive)

Brown (Front R Positive)

Yellow (Rear L Positive)

Light Blue (Rear R Positive)

Black (Ground)

Green (This green is larger than the other)

Dark Blue (If I connect this with the negatives from the "speaker wires", I get sound. It produces a high pitched whine that goes up or down with the engine)

White w/ Red stripe

Purple w/ White stripe

White w/ Orange stripe

Light Blue w/ Black stripe

Green w/ Purple (+12v Constant)

Yellow W/ Black (+12v Switched)

Orange w/ Light Blue

Light Blue w/ Pink stripe

Pink w/ White stripe

Black W/ Green Stripe

Anything In () is what I have figured it out to be, Which may be wrong.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Okay...Let me check into this, but usually the two colored wires (i.e. Blue w/ White stripe) is used for speakers and your solid colors are usually for power, ground, etc...

What kind of radio did you have in there before?

Do not use that Blue wire for your ground...

I have found so far:

*Black W/ Green Stripe: Car Radio Ground Wire...but honestly I never use the ground in the dash. just get a 12 to 14 gauge black wire and run it to a ground under the dash...find a spot that touches all metal (unobstructed from dirt, paint, etc) and make this your ground.

*Green: Illumination Wire

*Green w/ Purple (+12v Constant) Your right

*Yellow W/ Black (+12v Switched) You right

I am still checking on the other wires. Do any of the colors look faded?

Did you have a questions about an amp as well?

Yeah running a ground would be easy enough. I can do that. I had the factory radio, I unfortunately do not still have it, nor do I still have the connectors that i cut off =x.

Nothing really looks faded. The only thing that may be faded / discolored is the brown from the dash, it may actually be purple. Especially since the 4 pin connector from the amp only has a purple and no brown. I don't have any questions about an amp, the car has a factory amp built in and as far as i know the jensen has an amp built in as well.

thanks for the response / help so far //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
