1998 Expedition Mach Sound System upgrade

So, I have a 98 Eddie Bauer expedition that has a mach factory system in it. i want to up grade everything. but i want some info before i start. is there a factory amp? if so where is it? can i install a new head unit and connect it to the existing amp and then upgrade the speakers too? from what i have been reading, i can replace the factory sub with an aftermarket sub. could i hook the new sub (the aftermarket one i replace the old one with) to the stock amp or will i need to get a new amp as well?

My wife is driving a `99 Edddie Bauer with that same Mach sound system. I haven't done anything with that one, but I do know that in the back right side is the 8" sub. It's got an amp right in front of it in that panel. I'm not sure if there is a second amp, or if that's for everything, or just the sub, or what. But I can know there's at least that one amp. I seem to remember they listed the system as 260 watts or something. I'm sure that was a total number.

Also, if I remember right, Clarion makes the system.

Sorry, I'm not more help.

Awesome.

If the amp IS for everything, would it be difficult to switch out the amp with out rewireing the whole thing?

OR( if i do keep the stock amp in there) i should be able to replace that 8" sub with an upgraded one without replacing the amp right? if the sub can handle more power than the amp can put out, then i shouldn't have to even think about it blowing? or am i offbase with this one?
