1997 dodge stratus amp help

i have a 1997 dodge stratus and i need help on how to install my amp. the battery is located in the front left fender infront of the tire. my buddy told me i could run the power wire to something else on the car instead of taking the wheel off to get to the battery but he couldnt remember what it was called. could anyone help me out?

if i connect the power wire to the amp first, then connect it to the jump point, will i still need to undo the negative on the battery?

yes to keep from starting an electrical fire any metal the power wire touched would spark

but i wouldnt suggest doing that. from the battery they only run 10 or 8 guage to the aux power post

well if i still have to unhook the negative on my battery, im still gonna have to take the wheel off. im just trying to figure out a way to install my amp without having to take the wheel off. when i first had my buddy install my amp a while ago before i knew anything about car audio, he hooked the power wire up to my amp first, then hooked it to my jump point with the negative still on and there were no sparks and the amp worked fine. are you sure i still have to unhook the negative? because i dont wanna try it and fry my amp without knowing for sure. thanks for the help so far guys

Just disconnect the cable from the neg jump point if you can. Same thing as doing it from the battery.

or you can just take the fuse out of your amps power wire when installing it.

Just to be safe you should always disconnect the neg especially when connecting up the stereo and plugging in rca's.

yea i know i should unhook the negative always, i just dont want to go through all the hassle of taking the entire wheel off. ill try the taking out the inline fuse when installing it and see how it goes. thanks for the advice!
