Beatin' the block down
Ok, so I filed my income taxes and I'm thinking about getting a 1911 w/ part of my tax return.
I want someone to help talk me into or out-of buying at 1911.
Currently, the only pistol I own is Springfield XDm40. I like this pistol a hell of alot...but HATE the trigger creep. Yea, yea...I know that sear fired polymer-frame pistols are notorious for trigger creep, but that creep just pisses me off. I guess I'm entirely too used to the crisp pull on my REM700 trigger @ ~3lbs. To tell the truth, I have been a rifle guy all my life. I'm a hunter.
I have a drop-in 9mm conversion barrel and main spring for my XDm40 and LOVE the 2-rounds from 1 gun/mag option that it offers. Especially since 9mm is far cheaper than .40S&W for plunking...but .40S&W as a nightstand gun offers plenty of knock down. I have over 4000rnds down the pipe of my XDm40 w/ the .40cal barrel and over 3000rnds down w/ the 9mm conversion, and I'm very accurate @ 30yrd my XDm. But I still HATE the trigger.
I KNOW that the 1911 trigger on a well built gun is like butter. I have shot 1911's from time to time. And I love the crisp feel of a quality 1911.
I would love to have a nice 1911. Dammit, I love shooting a 1911.
But here is my dilemma.
I recently purchased an Armalite AR15. Before this .223/5.56 Armalite, the only .223 I have owned was a Ruger Mini-14 cerca-1970's. I have killed alot of deer w/ my old Mini-14 at 200yds w/ the Mini's pencil barrel, it tends to throw lead like a sling shot. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
For instance, I set up 4 red plastic cups at 360yrds and fired at them. W/ the Mini-14 I couldn't touch them...even after rechecking my zero at 100rds. BUT, w/ my new Armalite M4 platform w/ the HBAR barrel, I hit 3 cups in 4 shots. (10x scope in both cases, double checked ballistics and point of aim also)
BUT....again....I HATE THE 2-STAGE TRIGGER ON MY ARMALITE M4!!!!
To hell w/ this 2-stage trigger ARshit!!!! I'm about 60% sure the **** 2-stage trigger fuct me out of shooting 3-for-3 on the cups at 360yrs, hell...I was sandbagged in on the shooting bench.
So.
Gun guys. I ask you this...
Buy a quality 1911 (I'm currently looking at Kimber)
OR
Tweek and tune my Springfield XDm and Armalite M4 w/ trigger jobs and buy a few extra mags...and ammo (.233/5.56, .40S&W, and 9mm)?
Currently, I'm thinking Timney-Trigger for my AR. They claim a 3-4lbs smooth break, but the kit is $210.
Also, I use my XDm40 as a night-stand gun. But I tend to pull it (as it is my only pistol) out of service and go plunking ALOT (thus the reason I did the 9mm conversion).
If this post is TLDR...GFYS.
Thanks.
