18xxx port size?

i am building an 18xxx ported box, 7.5 cu. ft. tuned to 30hz. using the port calc at http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31 it says that i need a minimum port area of 147.25 inches. is that right? the box that i designed has a port that is 24.5 x 3... which is about half of that. port length is going to be 19.50" is that going to be ok? the tuning is right, but do you think that it will sound good?

box i have mine in now is 7.5 after displacements with 116 of port area and its not bad. im building aabout a 7.5 box now that has a 18.5x6 port that i should be done with tomorrow, ill let you know how that turns out

i just don't know if i have the space for a port that big and keeping the 30hz tuning. what are you guys tuning your boxes to?

bigger the port the better....to an extent.
