Put the w6's in this last weekend, they just ain't for me. What I was giving up wasn't worth me keeping them in. They sounded ok and got very f'n loud, just very peaky. Not sure if that's just the way 18's are or if the box had something to do with it. (Small, but built to JL spec)

Anyway's, after 2 day's I put the r's back in. I'm looking for 2 12's or 3 10's. The 12's would have to be better then the r's, under 750 rms each and dual 4's. The 10's would also need to be d4's and 500~rms each. I'll be running those @ .67ohm.

They'll be sealed................... You won't beable to change my mind, so don't try.

I'd like to keep it around $350~. I'd prefer used but am open to new.

Didn't you post a thread about the box a while back? wasn't it like the smallest recommended size jl said? I may be completely off on this so let me know if im thinking of a different person. but i think you should try a different box before you give up on them

I have no personal experience with 18s (yet, until my next build), but I do hear a lot of complaints about them being peaky, but it is almost always small boxes and/or people stating poor porting in a box. If you have room, you may want to try larger. If you don't, just do 1 in a proper box.

I was going to make a recommendation, but I see you don't want ported for some strange reason, so I won't. If I were to make a recommendation, I would advise to get your box professionaly designed for your vehicles acoustics.

It was me. And no, it wasn't the smallest possible box. It was right in the middle of the options. It doesn't matter what size the box is though. I said it was pretty f'n loud, and it was. I just want my rearview mirror and backseat back.

I feel like having a sealed box for 18's is kind of redundant. maybe thats what caused your problem? I have seen 2 10s with too small of a box tuned to 50hz and it gave the guy a flat response all the way from 30-50hz

Most would think that. If you payed attention to the many 18w6 threads throughout the forum's you'd know that ported isn't an option for these. Not trying to be a **** btw.

Bigger sealed would produce better low's though, but wouldn't be as well rounded throughout the freq's as a smaller one.

Smaller box could've been it, idk. I might just build up a box for 1 @ 2.5-3cu ft that I can fit in the trunk. If I run just 1 I can do it all proper like. But as I said earlier, I just want my cabin back to what it was.

Let's just blame the peekyness on the box and be done with it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Lol! People gettin' snippy ITT. If you ever decide to sell em' throw me a pm. And by the way, you are correct about the sealed box! I'm pretty old and remember these. That's the reason I would want em'. Don't take up a tremendous amount of room for 18's.

Sorry to hear you didnt like them. I wonder what you mean by peaky? I have one of the clearance woofers going in a 2.2 cube box. After much debate and looking at all the forums, I decieded to go a little larger than the JL sealed recommendations. I know they say I will give up a little sq, but I am only going to play 60 down so I figured how much sq could I really use. Before you give up on them try 2.2 or 2.3 sealed and see is some of the peakyness goes away.

I get defensive when people talk shit about my box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif If they knew anything about them they'd know why it is the way it is.
