18 vs 18

ok i am wanting to buy a new 18 in sub and im looking at the mt or the mj-18, now i know the mj is alot cheaper and might not perform as well but i would really like to spend as little money as possible, so is the mj anything compared to the mt? if i buy the mj i could keep my amp i have now and throw about 1000 watts at it but if i get the mt then i would have to spend even more money on an amp for it so what do you guys think would the mj compare anything to the mt?

I apologize. What is the mj? Also you said you know it wont' be as loud but you wanna save money. If that is the case get a 15 and pay for a good one. Size by far isn't the only factor that determines how loud a sub is. there are MANY 15's that can/do get louder than a lot of 18's out there. I personally would say if you wanna go cheap then go with a audioque 15. Now I am not sure what the mj is so I can not judge. But if it is for sure a good grade down from the mt I can almost for sure say the audioque 15 would walk the mj 18 and around 280ish shipped

buy 2 mj's $116 is pretty cheap. there 600RMS so 500 each and youre set if you have enough room.

i dont have enough room for two or i would lol but yea idk i just want the 18 for the WOW factor you know, all my friends have 15's and 12's so i just kinda wanna be different. but yea to answer the other guys question it is a sub from mach 5 audio and is around 116$ but is a good sub, and i have heard a couple of those AQ subs and i think its louder than those.

the MJ-18 has gooooooooood SQ it's a SQ sub but being an 18" sub it gets loud, I can get up to about ~140db not bad for $107 to the door

x2, I figured someone would beat me to it. Not even in the same league, both great subs, just produce bass in different ways.

ok well i want it to sound pretty good because i listen to alot of rock, but i listen to some rap too, and some techno. so i would like it to get pretty loud, but if your getting into the 140's with the mj then i think thats all i would need for a daily driver. do any of you guys know how much power the mj can take and possibly a good amp to run it?

Even then. It's still stupid.

A $100 modestly motored 18" Subwoofer, with a stamped basket, looser suspension, and lower power handling... to a $500+ over motored 18" subwoofer, with a large cast frame, extreme power handling, huge SPL capability, extremely tight gap, etc, etc...

+1. I would've expected the comparison to be much closer than this. If you have the means to get an MT, then why even consider an MJ ?
