18"

I have a 2005 mailbu and same body style. IMO it would be a pain in the *** to have a ported box to size fit into that small trunk opening. It has a decent size trunk but a small opening. I have been wanting an 18 as well. I think the only way it to fiber glass some of it. or maybe put it together inside the trunk. BTW my seats dont fold down.

If you don't mind having the sub firing up then I don't see why you couldnt get a box big enough for a 18" to fit. I had almost 8cf in my 2004 Sunfire and I'm rather sure you could get that and then some out of your trunk. You might be able to do a box with the speaker sitting on a slant or something if you don't want to have the sub firing up. The only way to find out if it will fit is to go out to your car and take some measurements.

ya i know this guy who does custom ish realy well... what would i ask him to build? like i mean what would it look like to have a custom fiberglass enclosure... and would it sound good still? Whats the disadvantages of having the sub firing up?

Bass response won't be as well with it firing up instead of back. But with enough power and an EQ to deal with peaks/drops you could make it sound fine I think.

and btw... around here the audio shop basically only has 12" powerbass subs... which i lol'd when he said" It's the best subwoofer around, trust me dude"
