18" Sealed Box

I'm pretty new to box building but I'm tryin my hand at it, my design leaves me at 18.5" high, 18" deep, and 24" wide, (outter dimensions). With the sub on the side that measures 18.5", giving it an inner measurement of 17 which is barely enough for the sub to fit, I would have the sub screw holes going through the front baffle directly into the side walls at the top and bottom. (in other words the sub screw holes on top and bottom would be in the same spots I would put screws for holding the edges together on the box.

My question is, would having it setup like that cause any issues? Or is it perfectly fine to have the sub that close to the top and bottom of the box?

Thanks and sorry if that was confusing
