I have had two cavaliers and one I rolled with 17's and still had a pretty big gap and just lowered it to fill the gap in. The other I rolled with 18's and looked pretty good. I had adjustable coilovers on it though.

I say 17's if your not looking to go to big. 18's maybe but 20's would be just awful.
