$165 > $406

i've ran a full Eclipse system from head to amps not counting speakers and they do perform very well. before i got my ID amps i had 2 xa1000s one per sub and XA2000 for the mids and an Ea2000 for my horns. it sounded awesome. ya it is wierd that the ea's won't do nothing 2 ohms kinda *****. one reason the eclipse sounded better then the PDX could have to do with the ICE configuration of the power supply in it. as stated here in this CA&E article.

http://www.caraudiomag.com/testreports/0609_cae_eclipse_xa2000_amp/index.html

and if anyone is interested i do have my Eclipse's for sale i have 1 xa1000 1 xa2000 and 2 ea2000s.

I have the Eclipse xa5000 5 channel amp. Its basicly the xa4000 and 1000 together in one unit. It kicks ass. I love the thing.

Most reviews Ive heard on the PDX line, that I trust, have been negative. So this doesn't surprise me. Too bad, they are one of the best looking amp lines out there.
See caraudiomag did a review of the PDX-4.150 and it was pretty positive.

Regardless, I'm happy as hell I got this amp. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Yeah, but doesn't Alpine advertise in the pages of that magazine? Too bad of a review = no advertising $$..... Non-biased review my ass!

I learned the same thing with my mids/highs. I tried a Rockford Fosgate Power 351s and didn't like it because it adds a little tone control to the tweeters (an old RF problem that still exists today); then I tried a Soundstream Reference 700s and it sounded better than the RF; but I settled with a Linear Power 1502IQ because it has a punchier mid-bass than the Soundstream. To all those who say an amp is just an amp, pfffft, I call BS!

I also run the Eclipse XA4000. One of my favorite 4 channel amps I have used. Solid clean power and super efficient too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Hard to find the 4000's floating around anymore so I would hold on to this one. I used to run the mono channel xa1000's and they are also nice if you don't need a whole lot of power. They only do about 480 @ 2 ohms if I remember correctly.

I dont think anyone educated in this field would say an amp is just an amp. But, a watt is just a watt.
