16 volt battery

i need to know what size i would need. I have a 99 tahoe and i was going to replace my original batterry and then probably run a couple in the back at a later time. My setup is going to be 1 15 sx RE sub in a box that is tuned to 43 hz i believe. it hasnt been built yet and i am going to get a 35.1 RE amp.

I dont think you can just throw a 16 volt batt in the front, it could fry the cars computer, which would not be too good. It also would not charge with the stock alt. Maybe if you ran dual alts you could have a regular stock alt and a 16v alt for all of your batts not associated with the other things in the car, and the stock alt for the batt up front and the cars other accessories. This is all if you havent already accomidated for this and if youre replacing the front batt with a normal 12v batt.

Also dont quote me on this Im just assuming.

EDIT: Chevy beat me to it.

i already have everything pre wired but i have a kole 1920 amp and 2 spl subs that i dont even have hooked up. I was gonna try and sell them but they are worth more not hooked up.

This is not recommendable. Just lets assume you swap out your battery with a 16 volt one. Now all your actuators that are attached to Battery voltage will draw a higher current. Which means you increase the stress on these parts. This can lead to shorter durability on these components. Also the drivers in the PCM (electronic control module that controls all engine and transmission functions will be stressed higher and might eventually fail. I guess that these considerations have priority over having a couple watts more.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

This would imply that you also change your alternator so that cranks out more then 16 volts to make sure that your battery will be charged all the time.

If one really wants to go that way then the only correct way to do this is to run a dual voltage system were you add a second alternator that only connects to a dedicated 16 volt amp set up.
