1500wrms, big trunk car, 3 15"s or 4 12"s ???

I sold my amps and box today and a few other things so now its time to rebuild. Im trying to decide between 4 12"s or 3 15"s. I already have the 2 15"s so i could easily add another to the bunch. But i could also sell these two and buy 12"s //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif he subs will be in a rear facing sealed box, either flat or with a slanted face. Ive got about 50 inches of width, 16" of height, and 24 inches of depth to work with. Ive heard that 12s will get louder in a trunk car because you can leave more airspace above the box for the sound to get over or whatever, but the 12s i used to have really lacked on the low low notes, which the 15s really excelled in and i liked that. however the higher notes werent as loud with the 15s (which i think is the up facing box i had them in) Also with the 12s ill be putting a little more power to them since itll be down to a 1 ohm load, vs like 1.6 or something with the 3 15"s

What would you guys do?

Well the ma audio 15s i have were great especially for the price, and they were loud as hell too. I was just gonna throw another one of those in there. Or either sell them and get 4 12"s of the same thing, depending on what i can find. Probably gonna spend about 250 on 4 subs if i do get 12"s. Either way theyre gonna be budget subs. Maybe some of the cheaper RE subs too. Ill consider anything as long as it will do well on 1500wrms

None of you experts have an opinion on this? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Im thinking of just going with 3 15"s since thatd be easiest, considering i already have 2. Ill build a slantface box myself and hope it sounds good i guess.

Subs are D2s so ill end up with like...1.35 ohms or something at the amp? The impendance issue was something i was thinking about as well. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif But id still be getting 12-1300wrms outta the amp at that load too. What do you mean by choking the subs from the cabin btw

When u build a box tht is at the complete limit of the trunk and there isnt sufficient airflow into the cabin of the car.... Like say u built a box into the trunk and faced it towards the rear of the car, tht would choke it off.

You need space so that the sound waves that bounce off the trunk to deflect back into your cab, it would be like having a wall with the speakers on the other side of it, you wont be able to hear it would you? Now consider holes in the wall for which the sound to get into the room your in, now you can hear it much better huh?

Roughly you should have an enclosure with about 6 cu ft total give or take a cu ft, thats with the space above it and on the sides for the sound waves to flow through. Now since your height is only 16 inches, and you want to give some space all the way around, 12's would be a good choice. Just do 2 AudioQue SDC2.5 12's, and port them, give each sub 2.5 cu ft net, and tune them to 30Hz for your low tone liking, and call it a day.

Ive pondered investing in better subs. I really want 2 SE 15"s but if i can sell what i have now ill get 2 of those. Ill have to take more measurements before i buy anything or build any boxes. I may just keep these 2 subs and build another box and say **** it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif Im having trouble figuring out what would be better, quanity or quality, say like 2 SE 12"s vs 4 RE 12"s for example? I think the 4 12s would be louder, but i cant decide what to do. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif My budget is holding me back as well too.

What if i did an angled box with the subs at like a 45 degree angle towards the back? that way i can have 4-5 inches of clearance on top of the box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
