another question: i have an old us amps 1000x (class AB) and can buy an oz audio v2000.1 (class D) (i.e. class AB 1000w v class D 2000w) what would be better on the xxx? i mean one amp is great sq (high damping factor) whereas the other is twice as powerful but not so good sq. Would the xxx respond better to high sq amp or just raw power?

only bad things about them is they can cause back pains from constantly lifting them in and out of a box by yourself. :/

audioholic, are you building seperate enclosures for your pair?

soon i need to finilize my plan for my pair and going to try to build an 8cu after port displacment tuned to 33-34hz. my only issue is if a port area of 15.5"x6" would be suffecient port area for the 2.

Look at it this way, the 2000 watt amp's gains can be adjusted down, decreasing how hard it runs (and its distortion levels) and still output well over the 1000 watts maximum your other amp would allow. But turning down the gain likely wouldn't even be necessary, I oubt you'd ever hear that low od distortion levels in subbass anyway.

RE recommended 45-50 inches of port area iirc, so that should be fine.

what car are they going in?

i'm going to build my box in the trunk and front fire subs+port. going to seal off the trunk from the cabin. can't wait to get started. just need to wait for the funds to roll in and i'll be on my way.
