Got the back piece glued+screwed together..

I would say thats an advantage...less space used up by the port...and some people will swear by them for better sound.

Bingo! There is no way to tune a box this size to 16-17hz with a port big enough to avoid airflow problems. PR's cost more than a port, but if you want a small low-tuned enclosure they are the way to go. If you look at the response of these low-tuned boxes it actually behaves quite close to a large sealed box.

I happened to get the PR's for a great deal, so it made this design a no-brainer.

Alright, well lets just say I was at the garage for a good portion of the night+morning haha.
