15" RE SX Response

Hey guys, well originally i was going to get the 15" SX because of the power it runs on and the bass it can produce for rap mainly... But recently my tastes in music have changed and now i mostly listen to hard rock such as slipknot, and the resident evil2 soundtrack (awesome btw)... well i want to kno if this sub can keep up with some of the very fast bass and drumlines in this type of music (ex. Slipknot - Welcome)

i still wnat to be able to hit the low bass because i also listen to techno which has some pretty low stuff

thanks for the help

i listen to a lot of that kind of music... not really

slipknot... but black metal and techno industrial metal...

very fast bass drums and rolling basslines...

i was at the point i was going to order some SX's... then

i wanted more SQ so i was going to go with the SE's...

now im at the point where the XXX has been recommended

as the highest SQ RE sub and can handle tons of power...

good luck with whatever you go for... do you have somewhere

you can actually hear the RE subs before you buy them???

i dont...

it sucks... just keep asking questions... the people here are

wicked smart about this stuff...

Well, I have a 15HC which was replaced by the SX. Some people say the SQ of the 15HC is better and some would say it was worse. As for the 15HC, it is pretty accurate in keeping it's SQ. However, I believe the 15HC is more a rap woofer since it has humongous low end which is good in rap songs. When playing rock, it was bit more punchy and didn't come out as loud as it would with rap.

The SX is supposed to be louder though, so I think that plays a role also. If this SX has the same low end as the HC then I would deffinately recommend the SX for your setup.

alright well i was also looking at the XXX but i really couldnt afford that high of a price and didnt needquite that much power, so i started looking at the SX which has still good amt of power handling as well as good sq (so ive heard)

no i dont have neone to hear the subs from unless sumone in tampa reading this has em let me kno...

Thanks for the help so far... if anyone actually has the subs PLEASE i would love to hear your opinion, im sure others would as well

What it mainly comes down to in my opinion, is whether your box is going to be sealed or ported. If your going to seal your box, I would advise against getting a SX, as its like caging a huge dog, your not getting it's potential. If you go sealed, get a RE SE, the sub has outstanding SQ and is also a bit cheaper then the SX.

When the SX came out and replaced the HC, it outperformed it in SPL and SQ, according to RE. They said they would not have discontinued the HC had it not been outclassed in every way by the new SX. I have not heard an HC so I cant comment on it personally.

For fast rock tracks, IMO the XBL^2 enabled subs (and possibly the W7 with its BL optimization also) are the way to go. Their bass is so transparent and accurate, a perfect match for that type of music IMO. Id look into the XXX, Brahma or Koda10.

again i am trying to keep price down as much as possible, excluding JL...

i was planning on sealed since i can have a smaller box size and have little trunk space... so the se would be better for sealed then, huh?

ill look into it

thanks for the help again
