the comparison was also done against the 10 inch w7 which has different specs then its larger counterparts if i remember correctly

its all in the install for the most part. the best thing for your friend to do is have a listen to both of them. im a huge MTX fan, but i do think they are pushing it to much, but for the money, i would take the 9500, and put the saved money towards good speakers or wiring

I had a competiton car and I could have went jl and owe on the euipment for years to come. So I decided on the mtx setup. I had 4 9500's off 2 mtx1501d 's modded and 2 342 mtx highs amps of all mb quart componets. My box was built inside my trunk and had plexiglass showing the back of the magnets. My car did a 156.4 off the ac/190 and 152.4 off the TL. It got very lound but sounded pretty good getting there. I now dont have it anymore as it was stolen last summer. I think jl has some very good product but way overpriced. I had well over 6000 in my system with mtx and mb quart. If I went all jl I was looking at over 8000. Is up too you but I would do mtx due to the price. Good luck!
