15" Kicker L7 + Massive P1500.1?

I'm not loud at all?!?
Hey guys. I just picked up a Massive Audio P1500.1 for a pretty good price, couldn't pass it up. I currently have a 15" Kicker L7 in a 4.5cu. FT box. Now, Massive rates this amp to do a true 1500wrms@1ohm, and Kicker puts the L7 at right around 1000rms power handling. My question is, what are my chances of giving this L7 the full 1500w without hurting it in a daily driver?

If not, when I go to set my gains, should a set it to the recommended volts for my amp+sub, and then back it off a little bit so the sub does not get as much power?

Thanks.

will that sub run at 1ohm? because typically one single 15" DVC runs at 2 or 4 ohms stable. and as long as you break that sub in, tune your amp properly, and dont let it distort, you can give it all the amp has. good luck man

since when did subwoofers become a certain ohm load stable.. is this new?

Thanks for the quick replies so far.

Yes, the sub will "run at" 1ohm, it is a dual 2 and will be wired down to 1.

Should I break the sub in with the gain turned a little bit lower that what recommended voltage is? If so, how much should I turn it down?

Also, I don't have an o-scope, so what other ways can I make sure I am getting a good, clean signal?

Sorry for the noob-ish questions.

Anyone have answers for these questions? Just don't wanna fawk anything up...

31 volts is 1000 watts at 1 ohm, 38 volts is 1500 watts.

read the gain setting tutorial if you haven't already. set it to whatever wattage you want. start with 1000 watts to break it in if your worried about breaking it in then step it up to 1500 if you feel comfortable doing so.
