So, about 4 months ago I reccommended to a buddy of mine to get an 15" Fi Q sealed off his JL 1000/1 amp

It sounded fairly good in his camaro, but in the interest of competition, I found him a mint 13w6v2 for 20 bucks less then what he paid for the Fi Q.

All I can say is the two drivers built in ideal sealed running off 1kw, the 13w6v2 rapes the Q, in every way.

I'm sorry to all of you who think Fi is the end to all, but listening to different songs and swaping the boxes out quite a few times, we all agree, the W6v2 is overall a much better driver.

Sure the W6 may be better in that application.

Try this test...

Pick a sub, any sub from JLs lineup. Burp it with 5k watts. Now try that with a BTL.

Get back to me with the results.

Hmmm sounds like a huge argument coming soon. Something just isn't right, if it was a dub 7 You may have a good argument. But overall the Q should be louder, and the JL cleaner.

well your putting 1000rms on a w6 which is rated for 600rms?
put 1400rms on the Q and tell me what happens.
13w6 is 750 rms:fyi:
i knew the bass heads were gonna bring up power handling

Yup, nothing like making an sq sub shine like throwin more power at it!

just 5kw? hardly seems worth the effort to wire it up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Just some experience I had recently - our rig has into 20kw on tap, so power isn't an issue. We were testing a proverbial "frankenwoofer" a local builder put together for us. The coil was designed to handle 1000wrms. We burped into 4kw on it without issue. At 6kw things started stinking. Then we tried bassrace with about 3kw and it didn't survive to the end of the 30 seconds //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

For simple burps, in the right box, subs rated for X thermal power handling will typically tolerate much more than that burping. I'd bet a dub 7 would take 5kw on burps....just not that many times //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

^^^ what does this have anything to do with a 13W6V2 and an FI Q comparison????
