Im just saying if ur not gonna be in the competition lanes I would go with the mag. Though even if you are in the lanes cranking it up Havoc posted some nice #'s with one 15 , 147.6db in 4 cube 28hz box with 1200 rms with a AC mic on the dash. Thats pretty **** nice to me im starting to lean more towards the mag b/c of the price and lower amount power needed as well as the SQ/SPL performance ive been hearing.

My opinion would be that the mag is the sub the should be on a pedastal above the JL . Im sure most peopele would agree the Mag would do the job perfectly. But it all depends on spending limitations and ur electrical system and how much space you can give the subs. with all that into consideration the Mag has much less needs then the XXX plus costs less.

Sadly no but a few guys i have talked to i knwo them pretty good and i trust there word on things they havent steered me wrong yet . Even some SQ competators liek Josh Laine are using mag's and they have used alot of the super subs.

Well if they blow out the 12w6v2s then they r def worth checking out.See im not even a big jl fan but i like the mix of sq/spl they put out.

The mags are better in sq than the xxx IMO, and require less power, not to mention cheaper. 12w6v2 is a joke compared to the mag. I work at a shop, and out of all the lines we carry, the mag is one of the best sq subs definately. To answer your question, go with the 12 ported over the 15 sealed if you arent worried about output and are just concerned with sq. Soon here im going to be doing an spl set up with the 15 i have, tune it to 47, and see what numbers i hit with it. remember the 147 was tuned to 28htz!. The mag is definately above JL, and i like JL, im not just saying that to be a hater. I have yet to find something wrong with this sub, (except it cant handle 3000 watts for 4 hours constant heheh. )

Wow, the magnum better than the jl...I can see the magnum is a speaker worth buying.I was impressed with the w6v2 and the w7s spl/sq and if the magnum can out do it well thats impressive.

dj fury: the W6v2's arent in the same league as mags. perhaps a better comparison would be with the W7.
havoc and electrodynamic: how would you compare a 12D2 ported and tuned low and a 15 sealed? not really looking for response regarding output (i know both will get sickeningly loud) but more with sq. particularly the lows. thanks

If you want the typical over-accentuated low end, then look into the 15 sealed (or port it if you have the room). If you want your low end to be flat (F3 at/below 20 Hz), then go with a sealed 12.

And as far as the Magnum's SPL abilities, Scott Stoner just did a 150.8 with a single Magnum 12 and 1200 watts. On top of what Havoc is doing with our prototype 15 along with the numerous people on the boards (Loyd, Dustin, Kevin) I'll venture to say that Mag's can keep up with the "big dogs" in the SPL lanes. They've been doing it so far and I don't see anything stopping them.
