ALOT of things factor into what gauge wire you use and ALOT of people don't realize that. I you are running the wire 2 or feet or so from the amp to the sub that is fine if over two or maybe 3 feet then I would drop down to 12awg

I usually use 12 gauge, just because it's big enough for anything and if you ever get bigger subs you'll be set.
